The english language has millions of words, and some words have several deffinitions or meanings. Violence is one of those words and is known by any one lho can speak and comprehend. Many fear violence, but we need to think about it and learn to prevent it instead okf avoiding it. Avoiding it doesn’t help anyone.
The websters dictionary defines violence as a vehement feeling or expression. It can also be defined as an exertion of physical force so as to injure or abuse. These are both great definitions but they have words that are hard to understand. I define violence as an action made in an attempt to hurt someone or sonething. Violence is everywhere, in music, movies, and even schools.
In the united states there have been school shootings. These haven’t just happened once or twice but multiple times and they will happen again. School shootings have happened in highschools and even colleges. Kids are not only able to get a hold of fire arms but are able to storm their school and shoot their fellow students. Theese kids are even able to shoot their teachers, the people who have made it their job to help kids. At Columbine highschool two students made a bomb and pl;aced it in their school. When it failed to go off they stormed the school. Their was a college shooting at Kent State. Also one at Verginia Tech. these school shootings have caused much pain.
Violence most often causes pain but on some occassions it can cause satisfaction or even happiness and a feeling of accomplishment. Such is the feeling in some sports like football and hockey. To know that you have done what your team has asked of you can give you the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. To win and succeed can give anyone the feeling of joy and happiness.
Unfortunately when some one hears the word violence the first thing that comes to mind is war. War has plagued the earth for centuries and it will continue for centuries to come. Possibly the most memorable war is World War Two. This war was the war of the world’s giants. Millions of soldiers died in combat. Even more people died outside of service. Most of these people were murdered and worked to death, just because of what they believed in. this was genocide. There have been several genocides throughout history. In Rwanda millions of people were killed just because they were from a certain tribe. The Tutsi were nearly exterminated.
I have had sticks thrown at me, pushed kids out of trees, been punched, and have punched back. I am no stranger to violence. The world has experienced far more violence than I. it has experienced murder, genocide, war, and much more. Many people have said sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me. Maybe even you have said it. This saying is wrong. Violence is a word put into acting and it has hurt many. Violence appears all throughout history and will continue to no matter what is done. We are human after all.
I have been hunting, wrestling, tackling, and fighting all my life. These are all forms of violence. Even though there will always be violence we should strive to prevent it and reduce it. Violence is a part of our life whether we want it to be or not, but it is controllable.
